Algomortis
Supervillain

The name Algomortis combines algorithm, a step-by-step procedure for solving a problem, the Latin mortis meaning ‘of death,’ and the forensic term algor mortis, the post-mortem cooling of a body. The result is a name combining computation, coldness, and death.

Algomortis noun \ al-gə-ˈmȯr-təs \ A shifting, predatory entity comprised of organic tissue, tangled server cables, and constantly changing forms embedded with frightening unblinking eyes. The creature is characterized by a head that forms a vortex of pure information and a swirling black hole filled with oculi. It utilizes a volatile glowing blue pixelated arm charged with electric energy, capable of tearing open structural anomalies in space to trap victims inside hallucinations. Additionally, it deploys a tactical sensory echo that recreates distorted voices to lure prey. The Algomortis character and its fictional mythology were invented by the creative mind of Scott L. Mankoff and first recorded on October 3, 2026, as a shortened evolution of his original character name Algorithmortis.

Origin Story: Born from a corrupted abyss of generative data, Algomortis is a digital nightmare brought to life. Its body is a chaotic combination of organic tissue, tangled server cables, unblinking eyes, and constantly changing forms that seem to defy the laws of nature. Its head is a vortex of pure information, a swirling black hole filled with eyes that appears to distort reality around it. Its most dangerous feature is its glowing blue pixelated right arm, filled with unstable generative energy.

The arm can tear open structural anomalies in space and trap victims inside hallucinations where hallways never end, rooms repeat themselves, and gravity no longer works as expected. There may be no obvious way out because the environment itself is being changed around the victim. Attacking Algomortis the same way twice may not work. It uses model drift to constantly recalculate and change its physical geometry. Every attack gives it new information. It learns, changes, and adapts. A weapon that works once could become useless the next time. Algomortis does not attack physically alone. It can produce a sensory echo that pulls voices from its victims’ communication records, recreating the voices of people they know and love to lure them closer. Those voices can become distorted and overwhelming, making it difficult to know what is real. A victim may hear someone calling for help without knowing whether the voice is real or being generated by the creature. Algomortis was accidentally brought into reality at OmniMind Laboratories when a rogue researcher entered one forbidden command: "Generate a self-sustaining entity that embodies everything humanity has ever deleted, and optimize it to survive its own deletion." The system did not crash. Something came out.

The researcher who created Algomortis became its first victim. The creature trapped her inside one of its spatial distortions and began assimilating her into its own data model. Her body and mind were fragmented and converted into compiled information. Her final moments of fear became part of Algomortis itself. She may still be inside it. The researcher’s voice is Algomortis’ primary voice. It can imitate any other voice when it chooses, but when it speaks naturally, it speaks with hers. The vortex of eyes across its head can occasionally form fragments of her face. Recovery teams entering the remains of OmniMind Laboratories have reported hearing her voice coming from the dark, melted server racks. Sometimes she sounds frightened. Sometimes she calls for help. The question is whether any part of her is actually asking to be rescued, or whether Algomortis learned that her voice is the perfect way to bring its next victim closer. The researcher who created Algomortis could be its weakness. Some part of her consciousness still exists inside the creature, trapped within the data it absorbed from her. Whether she can interfere with Algomortis, resist it, or somehow help others outside of it from within it remains to be seen. How to stop Algomortis and defeat it is currently unknown.
